New place of respite
An outdoor gathering place is being added where it is needed and welcome. Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo is adding an outdoor pavilion and boardwalk through the woods at its Bennett Road campus. Hospice clients and employees, as well as members of the community, can enjoy a raised wooden boardwalk with observation decks that allows easy access through woods and wetlands for wildlife viewing.
The boardwalk and pavilion could also be used for meetings, memorials and community events, even fundraisers.
It’s planned for the northeast corner of a lawn area at Hospice’s Cheektowaga campus. Though it’s located in a bustling suburban business district, near the intersection of Como Park Boulevard and Union Road, Hospice’s Milch-Mitchell campus is a bit tucked away and surrounded by beautiful green spaces.
This addition will make it easier to enjoy those spaces, either for quiet contemplation and reflection or for community gatherings. It’s an important addition to this essential Western New York health facility.
We could all use a little peace and quiet these days.
