Hospice Buffalo Receives Hospice Honors Elite Award
Cheektowaga, NY, May 15, 2018 — For the second year in a row, Hospice Buffalo was named a 2017 Hospice Honors Elite organization by Deyta Analytics, a division of HEALTHCAREfirst. Hospice Honors is a prestigious program that recognizes hospices providing the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view. This year, 71 of approximately 1,850 hospices received the Elite award, which puts Hospice Buffalo in the top 3% of hospice programs nationally. The official list of recipients was unveiled at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Management and Leadership Conference in April.
Dr. Christopher Kerr, Hospice Buffalo CEO & Chief Medical Officer comments, “I am very proud of our dedicated staff who strive to meet these high standards of care and always doing what’s best for their patients and caregivers, regardless of the recognition. While nurses play a key role in everything we do at Hospice, it is working through the support and efforts of our collaborative teams that makes a difference to our patients and their families.”
“Hospice Honors is a landmark compilation of hospices that provide the best patient and caregiver experiences,” said J. Kevin Porter of HEALTHCAREfirst. “I am extremely proud of Hospice Buffalo for achieving this highest of honors and I congratulate them on their success.”
Award recipients were identified by evaluating performance on a set of 24 quality indicator measures. Deyta distinguishes 2 levels of honors: Hospice Honors recipients score above the HEALTHCAREfirst Performance Score on 20 of the 24 questions; Hospice Honors Elite is a special recognition honoring hospices that score above HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on 100%, or all 24 of the evaluated questions.
